A mala necklace is traditionally made with 108 beads, like this one.
Gemstones are chosen based on the individual’s needs. In example, you may rose quartz for love and comfort or amethyst for anxious thoughts or boosts in creativity.
Each bead is strung onto silk thread, and then hand knotted into place, which can take 4-6 hours to complete by hand. Traditionally, mala neckalces were used during meditation or prayer, an affirmation repeated as they counted each of the 108 beads.
